Midea PortaSplit Impresses at the GPTI Award with its Powerful, Peaceful and Comfortable Room Cooling

Leading by the spirit of innovation and revolution, Midea launched a new type of air-conditioner, combining flexibility with efficient cooling technology to provide real cooling comfort.

The Midea PortaSplit is expecting market sales in 2024 and will be presented for the first time by the Midea Residential Air-Conditioning division (RAC) at IFA 2023, the brand is ready to redefine the air-conditioning (AC) business with its new concept.

Unlike traditional ACsappearance and functions, Midea PortaSplit combines the flexibility and mobility of a conventional portable AC with the strong cooling capacity and efficiency of a conventional split AC, integrating a new design to provide consumers with a powerful yet peaceful cooling comfort. Midea Group is proud that the innovation of PortaSplit won the GPTI Award for Room Comfort Technology innovation.

Consumer Needs are Fulfilled by Midea PortaSplit

Midea thinks like you, is concerned about the same things as you, and goes further to solve problems for you. Consumers traditionally face conflict between cooling comfort and energy-saving, while pondering in between flexibility and installation. They look forward to a product that can provide strong cooling efficiency, quiet operation, easy set-up, low restrictions and increased flexibility. Driven by consumer needs, Midea has launched the PortaSplit, a product that guarantees a powerful yet peaceful cooling experience.

PortaSplit presents two innovations in its design. The first plug and play split AC without fixed installation that also offers a highly efficient heat pump technology. Also, Midea applies the latest AI algorithm to PortaSplit to ensure energy-saving without any effort from consumer side.

Outstanding Cooling Performance

Although in its appearance it resembles a portable AC, the PortaSplit has the same efficiency as a conventional split AC with a strong cooling capacity of 3.5 kW and a SEER of 6.1, surpassing all conventional portable ACs in the market.

Compared with a conventional portable AC, the PortaSplit adopts the mobility and flexibility, as well as a vastly  improved cooling capacity and energy efficiency. According to StiWa test conditions, PortaSplit performed 4 times [1] better than a conventional portable AC in cooling capacity with 3 times [2] higher energy efficiency than the conventional portable AC.

Tested under the same standards of the split AC, PortaSplit presents the same cooling efficiency, cooling power and energy label class. For cooling, its energy class is A++, and for heating its energy class is A+.

The secret of PortaSplit's prominent whole-room cooling performance lies in its heat exchange system. Typically, a portable AC is not powerful enough to cool the entire room because the heat is discharged through a large hose. This results in the drop of air pressure, draws hot air from outside back into the house, leading to uneven cooling. But the heat of the new PortaSplit is dispersed via a heat exchanger without discharging air out, ensuring a better cooling performance without a change in air pressure.

In short terms, it takes PortaSplit only 15 minutes [3] to cool down a room, and it enables consumers to spend only 26 on electricity [4] for a complete cooling season.

Flexibility and Easy Set-up

PortaSplit also exceeds the common split AC with its flexibility. Although this new product consists of an outdoor unit and an indoor unit, the indoor unit of PortaSplit has wheels so it can be moved easily in your room.

Consumers can do the set-up process freely themselves with 3 steps without any tools (DIY set-up concept): attach the bracket on a window, place the outdoor unit on the bracket with no major hassle. If preferred, you can also seal the window with the sealing cloth provided, to have an even better cooling experience instantly.

Additionally, the components of PortaSplit are also specially designed to make sure all people can do this set-up process themselves without any security threat. The outdoor unit weighs as much as a flowerpot at 9.9kg, and hidden handles are included on both sides for an easy lift. Besides, the metal bracket is strong and robust enough to hold the unit safely and resist extreme weather.

Because of this special design, PortaSplit can be installed not only on a normal window, but also on a French balcony or a normal balcony, on a rooftop window and on a RV (caravan).

Low Noise Operation and Soundproofing

With the new PortaSplit, consumers are no longer disturbed by loud noise. The PortaSplit can automatically and subtly alter temperature for optimal comfort during sleeping. In silence mode, it operates at 39dB [5], which is below the threshold for good sleeping [6].

This is because the built-in triple layer soundproofing shields the motor sound, making the PortaSplit quieter than traditional portable AC.

Intelligent Energy-saving Comfort

Midea PortaSplit applies the latest intelligent energy-saving algorithm technology from Midea. This advanced AI algorithm of the PortaSplit makes micro adjustments according to the environment as the temperature changes. It reduces temperature fluctuation to provide smooth cooling during the whole day without impacting your comfort. By achieving a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER) of 6.1, the PortaSplit can provide up to 15% additional energy savings with AI.

Air Magic+ Sterilization

The Air Magic+ technology of PortaSplit purifies the air by emitting negative ions and reducing the spread of bacteria and viruses, making PortaSplit act like a family health safeguard, protecting you away from any upcoming health issues.

Midea PortaSplit re-innovates AC with the new room comfort technology. Aligning with the users thought perspective and providing better solutions for them. It has been created to provide the best comfort anywhere at home or in the office, powerfully and peacefully.
